Since early November, global attention has turned toward El Fasher, in Darfur, and more broadly toward Sudan, exposing a reality many assumed was distant: famine, massacres, mass displacement, and sexual violence. Atrocities no population should ever endure.

Background of the Crisis:
Since April 2023, a violent conflict has been unfolding between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo. The war is fueled by international backing driven by significant economic interests (gold, agriculture, and other strategic resources) at the expense of human dignity and, far too often, human life.

The UNHCR describes the situation as “one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.”

  • 25 million people, half the country, facing acute food insecurity (1)

  • 12 million people displaced within Sudan or across borders (2)

  • An estimated 150,000 deaths from violence, hunger, and disease (3)

  • 75% of health facilities non-functional in conflict-affected areas (4)

Field Testimonies: Médecins Sans Frontières (5)
In its 1 November report, MSF issued an urgent warning: in Tawila, 65 km from El Fasher, civilians fleeing the area are in immediate life-threatening danger.
On 27 October, every child received by MSF was suffering from acute malnutrition. Survivors also reported that a group of about 500 civilians attempting to flee El Fasher had been largely killed or captured by the RSF and allied forces. They described forced separations based on sex, age, or perceived ethnicity; ransoms ranging from 5 to 30 million Sudanese pounds (EUR 7,000–43,000); and extreme violence, including prisoners being crushed under vehicles.

A way to help
In the midst of this catastrophe, every contribution matters. Our humanity can still make a difference.

The fundraiser will remain open until Sunday, 30 November.
All proceeds will be donated to Médecins Sans Frontières, to support their interventions in Darfur and surrounding regions.

Thank you for your solidarity and generosity.
