REPAIR — Strengthening Life, Protecting Mothers and Babies in Mauritius

Because no woman should lose her life while giving life. Because no child should grow up without support or safety.

In Mauritius, too many pregnant women and newborns still face preventable complications—or even lose their lives—due to a lack of information, guidance, and support.

Our organization, REPAIR (Engage, Support and Accompany women during the peripartum period), is working to change this.

Our first project

Our project aims to support pregnant women and young mothers from underprivileged communities in Mauritius.
We train volunteers to meet them, listen, inform, and support them — from pregnancy through the baby’s first year of life.

We aim to:

  • Prevent avoidable tragedies related to motherhood (hemorrhages, complications, abandonment, isolation).

  • Empower women through simple, visual, and accessible information.

  • Create connections through community gatherings, safe spaces, and eventually shared housing for isolated mothers.

Why this is urgent

  • The neonatal mortality rate in Mauritius remains higher than the global average.

  • Only one in five women breastfeeds during the first six months.

  • Too many young mothers are still alone, misinformed, or living in precarious conditions.

Behind these numbers are faces, stories, and lives we are committed to supporting with limited means, but with great dedication.

Our roadmap

  • 2026 – Train volunteers and launch home visits.

  • 2027 – Create a community space for mothers and expectant mothers.

  • 2029 – Open REPAIR shared homes: safe housing for vulnerable mothers and their babies.

Every donation, big or small, is a seed of hope.
Your support will help us address essential topics such as nutrition during pregnancy, warning signs that require medical attention, newborn care, and breastfeeding—crucial knowledge for pregnant women and mothers of young children.

Our mission: to support, protect, and restore hope for mothers and their babies — strengthening life, one birth at a time.

Who are we?

We are REPAIR, an organization founded by healthcare professionals (midwives and doctors) committed to women’s health and thoughtful care.
With a dedicated team of passionate volunteers, we believe that compassionate, accessible, and human-centered support can change the lives of hundreds of women and children.

We support women in Mauritius during the peripartum period through community visits, listening spaces, and shared housing initiatives.
