Licht für Kuba - gemeinsam durch die Dunkelheit
Here in English;
Light for Havana
Every evening, when the power goes out in Havana, large parts of the city are left in darkness.
For many families, this means much more than living without light. Food spoils in refrigerators, water pumps stop working, fans fall silent in the tropical heat, and getting a good night’s sleep becomes impossible. Everyday life, work, and communication have become increasingly difficult.
We are Alexis and Christa Hernández, a Cuban-Swiss couple who have been living and working in Havana for more than ten years. Together, we run Hostal Kerida and Estudio Cimarrón—a place where dance, music, art, and culture bring people together and strengthen our local community.
Behind everything we do are people. Our team — including Dayana, Niela, and Jesús— works alongside us every day with dedication and heart, despite the challenges they face. Together with many other coworkers, artists, neighbors and friends, they are the soul of our projects and our community.
Through this campaign, our first priority is to support the people who make our work possible every day. At the same time, we want to help vulnerable families and neighbors in our community who are struggling the most with Cuba’s ongoing energy crisis.
What your donation will support
Your contribution will help provide:
Rechargeable lamps for our team members and people in our neighborhood
Battery-powered fans to make the hot nights more bearable
Small solar energy systems with battery storage for essential daily needs
Solar panels and battery storage for Estudio Cimarrón, helping preserve it as a place of culture, creativity, and community even during frequent power outages
Every donation goes directly toward practical solutions that make an immediate difference.
By supporting this campaign, you are not only helping individuals—you are strengthening an entire community. You are supporting the people who dedicate themselves every day to our shared projects, helping their families, and preserving a place where culture, hope, and human connection continue to thrive.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every donation, every shared story, and every gesture of support.

Hinter all unseren Projekten stehen Menschen.
