WHAT'S OUR OBJECTIVE?
To set up a global, unbranded & open-source poster campaign in support of labour, indigenous, feminist & climate justice groups pushing for a just transition at COP30 in Belém.
In view of the upcoming UN climate conference in Belém, Brazil (COP30, November 10-21), a global coalition of movements, NGOs and unions has launched a global campaign centred on the just transition. Bringing together different stakeholders – environmental NGOs, trade unions, indigenous groups, feminist organisations, climate justice groups – the #JustTransitionRising campaign has two core objectives:
Within the UN climate process: To push a series of core demands aimed at creating a global impetus for just transition policies and actions at the national and regional levels;
Beyond the UN climate process: To position justice concerns at the heart of the broader climate debate by foregrounding the lived experiences, voices, needs and rights of frontline communities and workers; frontline communities and workers that are the hardest hit by the climate crisis but also the least responsible for it.

Achieving these goals entails shaping and controlling the just transition narrative and ensuring that just transition measures are embedded in communities and reflective of their needs and realities.
Through the use of poster art, a popular and accessible art form, we want to raise the #JustTransitionRising campaign’s profile, and more broadly, to help connect frontline workers and grassroots communities to the international climate negotiations process.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Commissioning artists to produce posters. We invite graphic artists, illustrators and photographers from around the world to produce a series of posters centred on the just transition concept. Each artist is paid for their work. In return, they agree to make their artwork freely available to all.
Seven posters have been commissioned so far involving talented artists from Peru, Brazil, Switzerland and the UK.
Downloading posters via a QR code & online database. Each poster has a QR code that redirects you to an online database where you can download the posters free of charge in a range of different printable formats (from A5 to A0). Please note that while we work to finalize the website, a provisional online platform has been created. You can then either print the posters at home, at the office or through a printshop. You can also use the artwork for your online communication.
Printing & distributing posters for climate-related events. In addition to making the posters available online, we will also print physical copies and distribute them during climate-related events (protests, forums, convenings…) leading up to the Belém climate conference.
Pinning the posters on a virtual map. In addition to compiling the artwork and using the QR code, the web platform will also allow people to “pin” pictures of the posters “in situ” on a virtual map (on a factory wall, on a placard during a protest, in a university, in a library…).
HOW WILL WE USE THE MONEY?
All the money raised goes to either the artists or the printers (for the printed copies of the posters that we will distribute for free).
Our goal (and funds permitting) is to keep commissioning new artwork all the way up to COP30.
10, 25, 50, 500 CHF… every little helps!
