I am restarting my small online language learning center in rural Sri Lanka after it was damaged by the recent floods. With your help, 200 poor students can learn second-language Tamil/Sinhala completely free for one full year.
Full description (English)
Hello, my name is Ismail Anver Sathath, from Gambirigaswewa, Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka.
I run a small community project called SL Language Learning Academy.
Because of the recent floods in Sri Lanka, my simple online learning center has been damaged. Water came into the room, and my basic teaching setup was affected. I planned to teach 200 poor school students (Grade 6–11) second-language Tamil/Sinhala free of charge for 12 months in 2026.
I do not ask for money for my teaching time.
I only need help to restart the learning center and buy/repair the basic tools.
I am trying to raise 3’000 CHF to:
Repair the small online classroom area (table, chair, electrical and room repairs)
Buy 1 computer for online classes
Buy a good microphone/headset and simple audio system
Ensure stable internet and electricity for the year
Replace small damaged items (UPS, extension cords, basic accessories)
With this support, I will be able to:
Run regular online classes for 200 poor students
Teach second-language Tamil/Sinhala so they can pass exams and improve their future jobs
Give full scholarships – students and parents will pay nothing
Provide a safe, quiet online space for learning from our rural village
Even a small contribution will help rebuild this learning center and keep these children learning after the floods.
Thank you very much for your kindness and for standing with our students in Sri Lanka. 🙏
