Set up a funeral fundraiser
After losing someone, organising a collection for funeral costs or to support the family is often necessary at a time when nobody has much energy to spare. Happy Pot lets you set one up in a couple of clicks and let people contribute simply, from their phone. Based in Switzerland.
Why use Happy Pot at a time like this?
Passing an envelope round the office, handling cash, chasing people up — doing it the traditional way adds one more thing to deal with at a moment that really doesn't need it.
With Happy Pot, everyone contributes what they want, from their phone, wherever they are. It's all in one place, and you don't have to manage the collection by hand.
With Happy Pot you can:
- Set up a funeral fundraiser in minutes — a title, a short description, a photo if you'd like one
- Share the link by email, WhatsApp or text with family, friends or colleagues
- Take donations by card or TWINT
- Create a digital sympathy card: gather messages of support in one card to share with the family.
- Withdraw quickly, without closing the fundraiser
- See exactly who's contributed, so you can thank people properly afterwards
- Keep more of what's raised — our fees are some of the lowest around
Setting up a fundraiser for a funeral
Create the fundraiser
Give it a title ("Funeral fundraiser for Mr. Davis", for example), add a photo if you want one, and a short description explaining what it's for: funeral costs, support for the family, or both.
Reach the right people
Share the link by message or email with family, friends or colleagues. Everyone gives what they're able to, and anonymously if they want to.
Collect and pass it on
Once the money's in, transfer it straight to your account or the family's. You can withdraw more than once, which helps if costs come in at different times.
Everything you need to know
How do withdrawals work?
You can request a transfer at any point. The money goes straight to whichever account you choose, yours or the family's. It takes 1 to 5 business days.
No hidden costs: see our pricing page for the full breakdown.
What's a funeral fundraiser typically used for?
A funeral or memorial fundraiser usually covers:
- Funeral costs: coffin, ceremony, notices
- A direct contribution to help the family through this period
- Flowers or a memorial wreath
- A donation to a charity in the person's memory
- Anything else connected to organising the funeral
We'd like to thank you for the ease of use and reliability of your online Pot system. We've received your transfer! A first experience that convinced us!

Human and very reliable website, not like those Leetchi crooks. Thanks again for everything.

Funeral fundraiser FAQs
How do I bring this up with family or colleagues without it being awkward?
Keep the message short and simple: a brief explanation of the situation and what the collection is for is enough. You don't need to go into detail if you'd rather not. Write the description in your own words, and you can keep it private so only the right people see it. If you're organising on behalf of a group, it's usually worth letting the family know beforehand so the fundraiser doesn't come as a surprise.
Can people give anonymously?
Yes, anyone can choose to donate without their name showing.
How long does the fundraiser stay open?
As long as you need. Many people leave it open for several weeks to give everyone time to hear about it and contribute.
Are there fees?
Happy Pot's fees are transparent. See our pricing page for the full breakdown.
What is the digital card?
The digital card works like a 100% digital greeting card. It has two pages: the first contains the collection creator's photo and message (customisable), the second gathers all contributors' messages. You can download it, share it digitally or print it to hand over in person. Just click "Create a digital card" at the bottom of your collection page.
