Proposal for Funding: Expanding SEJONYAWIFI Internet Access Across Mutukula Border Town
Introduction
SEJONYAWIFI is a community-driven initiative dedicated to providing affordable and reliable internet access to the residents and businesses of Mutukula Border Town. Located at the critical junction between Uganda and Tanzania, Mutukula serves as a key economic and social hub. However, despite its strategic importance, many areas of the town still suffer from limited or no internet connectivity.
SEJONYAWIFI has already made a meaningful impact by connecting parts of the community, empowering students, small businesses, healthcare providers, and travelers with access to digital resources. However, to fully realize the transformative potential of internet access, we are seeking funding to expand our network infrastructure to cover the entire town—ensuring that no household, business, or institution is left behind.
The Need
Underserved Areas: Large portions of the town remain unconnected, limiting educational, economic, and communication opportunities.
Digital Inclusion: Students and job seekers lack access to online learning platforms, applications, and tools.
Cross-border Trade: Traders and logistics operators need stable internet for transactions and operations.
Community Empowerment: Reliable internet promotes civic participation, innovation, and access to essential services.
Request for Funding
We are currently seeking financial support to:
Expand our network infrastructure across all zones of Mutukula.
Install additional access points and improve signal strength and bandwidth.
Subsidize internet costs for low-income households and public institutions such as schools and clinics.
Train local youth in ICT maintenance and customer support to create local jobs.
Impact
By funding the expansion of SEJONYAWIFI, donors will be contributing to:
Bridging the digital divide in a border town with immense regional importance.
Boosting cross-border commerce and connectivity.
Enhancing education, healthcare, and overall quality of life.
