Rebuilding Lives: Emergency Aid for Victims of Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka

We are launching an urgent appeal for humanitarian assistance following the catastrophic impact of Cyclone Ditwah on Sri Lanka. This severe storm has left a trail of destruction across the nation, resulting in a profound human tragedy and immense property damage.

We urgently need your support to provide immediate relief and long-term recovery for the hundreds of thousands of people whose lives have been shattered.

The Devastation: A National Crisis

The statistics reflect a massive humanitarian crisis:

• Lives Lost and Missing: Over 611 people have tragically lost their lives, with an additional 214 individuals still missing.

• Mass Displacement: Nearly 1.5 million people (1,466,615) from 407,594 families have been affected. Over 233,000 individuals are currently displaced and sheltering in temporary camps.

• Housing Catastrophe: The cyclone has completely destroyed over 4,160 homes and caused partial damage to more than 67,500 houses. Thousands of families are now without safe shelter.

• Critical Infrastructure Failure: Vital services have been crippled, with over 247 km of major roads and 40 bridges completely destroyed, severely hindering aid distribution and isolating affected communities.
