FAQ

My name is Senadhirage Don Tharindu Poorna, a Sri Lankan citizen I am creating this fundraiser to directly support families in Sri Lanka who have been devastated by Cyclone Ditwah.

I am sharing my identity and personal details openly so donors can trust that I am a real individual and fully accountable. My passport confirms my name, nationality, and residence, and I am prepared to provide any verification GoFundMe may require privately through their system.

My Connection to Those Affected

I am from a local Sri Lankan community, and many of the families impacted by Cyclone Ditwah are my neighbours, friends, relatives, and people from surrounding districts. I have direct communication with affected households and local volunteer groups who are distributing emergency supplies.

I am not raising funds for strangers—I am raising funds for real families I personally know, and communities I grew up with.

The Situation: Cyclone Ditwah Has Destroyed Lives

Cyclone Ditwah has caused:

  • Massive flooding across multiple districts

  • Homes fully destroyed or washed away

  • Families displaced with no food, clothing, or shelter

  • Children, elderly and disabled people in urgent need

  • Contaminated water supplies and rising disease risk

Thousands of families are now living with nothing but the clothes they escaped with.

Our Goal: USD $50,000

This campaign aims to raise $50,000 to support immediate relief and early recovery.

Funds will be used for:

1️⃣ Emergency Relief

  • Clean drinking water

  • Dry rations (rice, milk powder, biscuits, baby food)

  • Hygiene packs (sanitary items, soap, medical masks)

  • Clothing, blankets, and mats

2️⃣ Temporary Shelter Support

  • Tents, tarpaulins, ropes

  • Basic bedding items

  • Urgent repairs for damaged homes

3️⃣ Medical Support

  • Basic medicines

  • First-aid supplies

  • Assistance for injured or vulnerable individuals

4️⃣ Rebuilding & Recovery

  • Materials for damaged houses

  • Tools and supplies for small-scale repairs

  • Support for families who lost their livelihoods

  • Every expense will be used exactly as stated and documented for donors.

Transparency & Accountability

I will:

✔ Upload updates from the ground

✔ Share photos/videos of distributions

✔ Provide a breakdown of how funds are used

✔ Ensure donations reach real families in need

✔ Work with verified local volunteers and community leaders

How You Can Help

  • Donate any amount — even $5 helps

  • Share this campaign on Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram

  • Support Sri Lankan families who have lost everything

Your compassion can help families rebuild their lives after this devastating tragedy.

Thank you for your generosity and trust.
