Our Story
My name is Amila Asela Balasooriya, and I am a government servant in Sri Lanka. I am reaching out with a humble request for help to provide a safe and dignified home for my family.
Our Family Situation
I live with nine people under one roof:
My wife, who is currently unemployed and cares for our home
Our two precious children studying in Grade 2 and Grade 6
My elderly father, who suffers from kidney disease and diabetes, requiring constant medication
Both of my wife's parents, who depend on us for their care
As the sole earning member of this household, I carry the responsibility of providing for everyone's needs on my modest government salary.
Why We Need Your Help
Our current living conditions are heartbreaking:
No proper kitchen - My wife struggles to prepare meals for 9 people in inadequate conditions
Very old, unsafe toilet - This poses serious health and hygiene risks, especially for our children and elderly parents
No basic appliances - We have no refrigerator to store food or medicine safely, no washing machine, and no television for our children's education
Poor structural condition - Our house needs urgent repairs to protect us from the elements
We do have electricity, which is a blessing, but the house itself is falling apart around us.
Our Financial Reality
My government salary is barely enough to cover:
Daily food for 9 people
My father's kidney treatment and diabetes medication
School fees, books, and uniforms for our two children
Other elderly parents' basic needs
After these essential expenses, there is nothing left. I cannot save money, and no bank will give me a housing loan because I have no savings or collateral. Every month is a struggle just to keep everyone fed, healthy, and my children in school.
What We're Asking For
I am not asking for a luxury home. I am asking for basic human dignity:
A proper, safe kitchen where my wife can cook hygienically
A functioning, clean toilet for our family's health
Essential repairs to make our house structurally sound
If possible, basic appliances like a small refrigerator for medicine storage
Our Hope
My children deserve to grow up in a home where they feel safe. My elderly parents and father deserve dignity in their final years. My wife deserves a proper space to care for our family.
I have worked honestly as a government servant, always doing my duty. Now I am asking for kindness from strangers because I have nowhere else to turn.
Every contribution, no matter how small, will bring us closer to this dream. Your generosity will not just build walls and a roof - it will build hope, dignity, and a future for my children.
How Funds Will Be Used
Kitchen construction and basic fixtures
Toilet renovation and plumbing
Essential house repairs (roof, walls, flooring)
I promise to use every franc with honesty and transparency, just as I have served in my government position.
Thank you for taking time to read our story. May God bless you for your kindness.
Note: I can provide documentation of my government employment, my father's medical condition, and photos of our current house condition upon request.
