FAQ

I am seeking support to build a home for my elderly parents before our new year (traditional cultural festival) on April 2026 . The reason I am reaching out for help is because I truly want to give them a safe and comfortable place to live in their old age. At the moment, I am running a small business on my own, and I live in a rented house. My parents have also been living in a rented home for many years. Now both of them are suffering from health issues—my mother is 67 and my father is 68. Despite their age, my father still works to help with my business operations. Every day he uses his motorbike to assist in delivering my products. I pay him Rs. 2,000 (USD 6.45) for this work and an additional Rs. 500 (USD 1.61) for fuel. From my business, I earn around Rs. 4,000–6,000 per day as profit, which I use to cover my family's daily expenses. Over the years, I tried to get a bank loan several times to buy a small house for my parents. But the bank managers and credit officers were not satisfied with my business income level, so my applications were rejected. Because of this, I had no choice but to borrow money daily from a private lender as capital to keep my business running. According to the banks, I would need several more years of income records to qualify for a housing loan. My business currently has high demand, and I am managing it well, but I need more capital to expand production. My dream is to reach a stable level in the next 5–7 years. However, due to my parents’ age and health conditions (both suffer from high blood pressure and diabetes), I want to give them a home as soon as possible, not years later. Being able to provide a stable house for them while they are still with me would be the greatest blessing of my life. During the COVID-19 period, my business grew successfully. But in 2023 and 2024, Sri Lanka went through an economic crisis, and the business collapsed completely. I lost almost everything. In order to restart, I had to sell my gold jewelry and slowly rebuild the business. It will still take several more years to return to the previous level. Because of this, I lost credibility with the banks, which makes it even harder to get a housing loan. This is why I am humbly seeking your help. I want to give my elderly parents a home where they can live peacefully and happily in their remaining years. I cannot achieve this alone at the moment, and I sincerely request support from anyone who is able to help.
