https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1a9xUn11QJ/

Dear compassionate souls,

Today, I reach out to you with a heavy heart as we witness the harrowing aftermath of the Dikwa cyclone that has ravaged Sri Lanka, leaving a trail of sorrow and destruction in its wake. In the Badulla District,More than 500 human lives were lost. over 1,500 homes have been completely obliterated,The area's road system, Housing, Irrigation system, Schools, Hospitals, etc., suffered extensive damage to communities turning vibrant neighborhoods into desolate landscapes of despair. Families who once found comfort and security within their walls are now left with nothing but memories and the haunting echoes of their dreams.

Imagine the pain of parents who can no longer provide a safe haven for their children, the elderly who now face uncertainty in their twilight years, and the countless individuals who, despite their resilience, feel powerless against this catastrophe. Each torn roof and collapsed wall represents not merely structures lost, but the very essence of lives disrupted, and communities fractured.

In this moment of profound need, we humbly turn to you, the global community, with a heartfelt appeal for your compassion and support. Your generosity can help us not only rebuild homes but restore dignity and hope to countless lives. Every contribution you make—be it financial assistance or other forms of support—The funds will be used for the following projects planned by our foundation.

The damage and impact of Cyclone Ditva, which hit Sri Lanka in late November 2025, on the country

As of today, January 22, 2026, the country is still in a major recovery phase. Here is a summary of the situation and the impact of the storm:

Impact Summary

* Human Toll: The cyclone and subsequent landslides caused over 640 confirmed deaths, with nearly 200 people still reported missing. It affected roughly 2.2 million people across all 25 districts.

* Geographic Focus: While the entire island felt the impact, the Central Highlands (Kandy, Badulla, and Nuwara Eliya) were devastated by landslides, and the Western Province (Colombo and Gampaha) faced catastrophic flooding.

* Economic Damage: The World Bank estimated direct physical damage at approximately $4.1 billion, which is about 4% of Sri Lanka's GDP. This includes massive losses in agriculture (paddy and vegetable crops) and infrastructure.

* Infrastructure: Over 100,000 houses were damaged or destroyed. Many bridges, roads, and power grids were severely compromised, and some rural areas are still struggling with restored connectivity.

Current Status (January 2026)

* Weather: As of mid-January, the heavy showery conditions have finally begun to reduce across most of the island. However, light evening showers are still expected in districts like Badulla, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, and Ratnapura.

* Recovery Efforts: The government has recently launched an online portal for the "Rebuilding Sri Lanka" national program to coordinate aid and reconstruction. International support from the UN, IFRC, and countries like Brazil and the US is ongoing.

* Economic Outlook: The disaster is expected to trim Sri Lanka's GDP growth for 2026 by about 0.5%–0.7% due to the disruption of exports and agriculture.

Please join in this essential act of solidarity and support the people of Sri Lanka in their time of need.

Thank you for being the light in their darkest hour.
