FAQ

Life can change in a single night. A few weeks ago, a powerful storm that struck Sri Lanka took away everything my family and I had worked for over many years. What was once our home — a place of safety, warmth, and shared dreams — and my small business — our only source of income — were severely damaged and left uninhabitable by this devastating natural disaster.

The storm arrived without mercy. Strong winds tore through our area, heavy rains flooded our surroundings, and within hours, the walls that protected us and the business I depended on began to collapse. By morning, we were left standing among broken walls, destroyed equipment, soaked belongings, and the painful realization that our lives had been turned upside down.

My small business was not just a workplace; it was how I provided food, education, and basic needs for my family. Losing it means losing our daily income and our sense of stability. At the same time, losing our home has left us struggling to find shelter, safety, and comfort. We are currently facing mounting debts, repair costs far beyond our reach, and the emotional weight of not knowing how to move forward.

In Sri Lanka, many families like ours live hand to mouth. We do not have savings to recover from disasters of this scale. Despite working hard every day, rebuilding both a home and a business at the same time feels impossible without help. The storm did not just destroy buildings — it shattered our sense of security and hope for the future.

This fundraiser is a humble request for support during the darkest moment of our lives. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help us repair our home, rebuild my business, and regain the dignity of standing on our own feet again. Your kindness can help turn despair into hope and help a family rise again after unimaginable loss.

If you are unable to donate, even sharing this story means more than words can express. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read our story and for standing with us as we try to rebuild our lives.
