Sri Lanka has been struck by one of the worst weather disasters in recent memory, as massive floods and deadly mudslides, triggered by Cyclone Ditwah, have ravaged the island nation. Thousands of families have lost everything, and the scale of the destruction requires immediate global intervention.
The Crisis on the Ground:
Human Cost: The disaster has tragically claimed more than 1000 lives, with dozens more people still reported missing.
Widespread Destruction: Over 25,000 homes have been destroyed or severely damaged, leaving countless families homeless and desperate.
Mass Displacement: Nearly a million people require urgent assistance, with over 100,000 displaced individuals currently sheltering in temporary, state-run centers.
Infrastructure Collapse: Critical areas like Kandy, Badulla, and parts of the capital, Colombo, are severely affected. Roads are blocked by landslides, and massive areas of the country are without basic necessities like electricity and clean water.
Your Donation Provides Immediate Relief:
The Sri Lankan government has declared a state of emergency and issued an international appeal for aid. Our funding page aims to provide swift, targeted support to the most vulnerable communities.
Every donation goes directly towards:
Life-Saving Supplies: Provision of clean drinking water, emergency food packs, and essential medical supplies to evacuation centers.
Emergency Shelter: Distributing critical non-food items (NFIs) like tarpaulin, mats, blankets, and essential household items to displaced families.
Rebuilding & Recovery: Supporting families with cash grants and materials needed to clean, repair, and ultimately rebuild their destroyed homes and livelihoods.
Act Now:
The road to recovery will be long, and the immediate needs are immense. Please donate today to help the children, families, and communities of Sri Lanka rise above this devastating flood and begin the crucial work of rebuilding their lives.
Give hope. Give help. Donate now.
