My name is Asanka, and Velora Sarees began as more than just a business idea—it started as a dream born out of courage, necessity, and a desire to build something meaningful with my own hands.

For years, I watched hardworking Sri Lankan women walk into their offices—teachers, bankers, secretaries, managers—each carrying not only their responsibilities, but also their dignity and grace. A saree is not just clothing for them; it is confidence, identity, and beauty wrapped together.

That inspired me.

I always wanted to create a brand that honors that elegance—something affordable, luxurious, and designed specifically for everyday professional women. A brand that represents strength, simplicity, and Sri Lankan pride.

But like many new entrepreneurs, I faced a challenge:

I had the vision, the dedication, the research, the strategy—

but not the financial foundation to take the first step.

Starting a saree business requires capital for inventory, packaging, branding, and travel to India for sourcing. I come from a humble background, and saving such an amount while managing personal responsibilities has been extremely difficult.

Yet I refused to give up on this dream.

I believe in Velora Sarees with all my heart.

I believe that with the right support, I can build a brand that not only supports me but also empowers other women, provides employment opportunities, and contributes to Sri Lanka’s growing fashion industry.
