Hi, my name is Nipuna Sadaruwan, 21 years old. I’m originally from Moratuwa, but I live in Wattala, Sri Lanka now.
My situation:
My parents divorced when I was young, and my grandmother (72) raised me alone. She is the only family I have. We were living in a small rented room in Wattala.
I work as a construction site supervisor and earn 40,000 LKR/month (~$135). But our rent is 25,000 LKR and food/medicine for both of us is 30,000 LKR. Every month I’m 15,000 LKR short (-$50). I borrow money just to eat. We have zero savings.
What happened:
On March 15th, 2026, floods destroyed our rented house in Wattala. Roof collapsed, walls cracked, everything ruined — beds, clothes, kitchen items, grandma’s medicine. The landlord asked us to leave because he can’t repair it.
Now we live in a tarpaulin shed next to the ruins. My grandma can’t sleep on the ground — her knees are bad. We can’t afford another rented room, and my salary doesn’t even cover rent + food.
What we need – $15,000 USD:
I want to build a small basic house (2 rooms + toilet) on a small piece of land my grandma owns in Wattala, so we stop paying rent and she can live safely. As a site supervisor, I will manage the build myself to save cost.
• Foundation + bricks + cement (walls): $4,500 • Roof structure + sheets + timber: $4,000 • Labor (mason + helpers × 50 days): $3,500 • Doors, windows, wiring, toilet & plumbing: $2,000 • Transport + food/medicine during build (2 months): $1,000
Proof & Transparency:
• I will post photos + short videos EVERY WEEK showing materials, workers, and progress. • I will share receipts for all major expenses. • You can WhatsApp video call me anytime: +94 76 406 5263
Even $5 helps:
$5 = 2 cement bags. $20 = 1 day labor. $100 = 2 roof sheets.
If you can’t donate, please share this link.
Thank you for giving me and my grandma a chance to live with dignity ❤️
