My name is Jayantha Bandara, and I'm a holistic therapist with a dream rooted in the red soil of Matale.
I grew up in Wasgamuwa, a small farming village where my family has worked the land for generations. My father was a farmer who believed in the healing power of nature and traditional Sri Lankan medicine. When he passed away in 2011, he left behind more than just our family farm—he left me with a deep respect for the wisdom of our ancestors and the therapeutic traditions that have sustained our people for centuries.
My mother and sister still tend the land where I was raised. My sister-in-law Mary and her husband—also farmers—supported my education when our family had little to spare. Their sacrifice allowed me to leave Wasgamuwa for Colombo, where I trained and qualified as a holistic therapist.
In Colombo, I've learned the art of healing through traditional Sri Lankan treatments, full body massage, aromatherapy, and wellness therapies. I've seen how these ancient practices can transform lives, reduce stress, and restore balance to body and mind. But I've also seen something else: tourists and Sri Lankans alike searching for authentic, traditional healing experiences in natural settings.
My Vision
Now, I want to return home. I want to bring healing back to the place where I learned about it first—among the farmers, the forest, and the red earth of Matale.
I have land in Wasgamuwa—beautiful, peaceful land perfect for a traditional Sri Lankan wellness center. I envision:
- Authentic Sri Lankan traditional treatments
- Full body massage and therapeutic massage
- Aromatherapy using local herbs and oils
- Healthy, organic food grown on our family land
- A space where locals and visitors can experience genuine healing
This center would honor my father's memory, provide employment in our rural community, and preserve the traditional healing knowledge that risks being forgotten.
Why I Need Your Help
I've tried many times to save enough money to start, but as the main supporter of my mother and family, every rupee I earn goes to their care. I cannot build this dream alone.
Your support will help me:
- Build treatment rooms using sustainable, local materials
- Purchase massage tables and traditional therapy equipment
- Create herb gardens for aromatherapy oils
- Train local villagers in traditional wellness practices
- Market the center to reach those who need healing
What You'll Help Create
This isn't just a business—it's a bridge between generations, between ancient wisdom and modern wellness, between rural Sri Lanka and the world. It's a way for farming families like mine to prosper while honoring our heritage.
Every contribution brings me closer to opening the doors of this healing sanctuary, where the traditions my father cherished will live on, and where anyone seeking peace, restoration, and authentic Sri Lankan wellness can find it.
From Wasgamuwa, with gratitude and hope.
