Home for Mom –Turning a Shack into a Sanctuary

My name is Mtebeni Teboho, and I am raising funds to build my mother a safe, warm, and dignified home. For many years, she has been living in a small shack made from tin sheets, with a leaking roof, no proper insulation, and minimal protection from the elements. Every winter, the cold seeps through the thin walls, and in the rainy season, water drips in, leaving the floor damp and unsafe.

My mother has always been my source of strength, guidance, and unconditional love. She sacrificed her own comfort to raise me, making sure I had food, clothing, and education, even when she had very little for herself. Now, it’s my turn to give back to her — to give her the home she truly deserves.

The funds we are raising, R384,731, will go directly towards:

Purchasing land preparation and foundation materials.

Buying bricks, roofing, doors, and windows.

Installing electricity, plumbing, and proper sanitation facilities.

Furnishing her with basic essentials to make her new home livable and comfortable.

This is more than just a building project — it’s about giving a woman who has given so much a place where she can feel safe, proud, and at peace. A place where she can wake up without worrying about the rain, the cold, or the instability of the walls around her.
