Building a Future: A Safe Roof for My Mother and Brothers

"Hi everyone, my name is Krishan. I am writing this as a young man from Sri Lanka who is struggling to provide a basic necessity for my family—a safe roof over their heads.

I am the sole breadwinner for my mother, my two younger brothers, and my elderly grandmother. To support them, I work as a day laborer, doing whatever difficult manual work I can find.

Recently, while working to earn our daily meals, I suffered a severe infection in my leg. It has been a very painful and frightening experience. My biggest fear isn't the pain, but the realization that if something happens to me, my family will be left in our current unsafe house with no one to protect them.
